Honoring John Lennon’s Vision of Peace

Dedicated on October 9, 2007, the Imagine Peace Tower (Yoko Ono’s memorial to her late husband) is lit every year between October 9 and December 8 as a memorial to Lennon and his dream for world peace.

Special Lennon Tributes will be held until December 8 marking Lennon’s 70th birthday. Including a 3-course dinner based on select ingredients related to Lennon’s lyrics and lifestyle, a presentation on the history, life and aspiration of Lennon and Ono’s continuing campaign for peace, and a musical and theatrical tribute to John Lennon by Icelandic singer, songwriter and musician Jon Olafsson and his group of artists.

Besides the special tributes one can also visit the peace tower on the small island of Víðey since boattrips are scheduled daily from the mainland. The boattrip will only take 5 minutes and on your arrival you can join a guided tours around the island.
